How do I remove window regulator assembly from 87 300e
The front passenger window is frozen in the closed position (at least its not stuck open). Switch is good. I applied power from the battery via a jumper, and nothing happened. The Haynes manual says I need to detach glass from the regulator, which can't be done without lowering the glass. What do I do, this must happen all the time. Thanks.

Window Elect Motor
I replaced a follower in the right rear door (88 300SEL). However, my window motor was working. The manual required that the window be in certain position so that the mechanisim could be withdrawn from the bottom of the door (assuming that you have removed the door panel). I would try to remove the motor from the sector gear thus allowing you to reposition the lever mechanisim and remove it from the door. Be sure to disconnect the window motor from power. This things are powerfull and can to major damage to your body parts.

If you just remove the nuts holding the mechanism to the door, you can remove the entire thing, motor attached. This includes two to the right holding a sliding channel and one to the top left. It's all in the service CD.
This definitely disconnects it from the glass.

Thanks, but don't I have to separate the window glass from the regulator assembly?

It isn't glued to it or bolted to it. What you may have to do is jam a wedge of something in to keep glass from falling when you take out the regulator assembly. Just did mine last week with eBay parts. Motor and regulator in one piece.

Thanks. I thought I had read in the haynes manual that the metal strip on the bottom of the glass was bolted onto the regulator assembly. Kent, how much did you pay for the ebay parts, which I imagine were used?
