Switchover valve block....HELP!!!

I've been having issues with my vents and I've come to the preliminary conclusion that the block needs to be changed.....(mayble along with some vacuum elements in the future). But first things first, I need a new Switchover Valve Block. (The one behind the glove box, above the passenger footwell.)

Any help with locating one withough paying the stealership the $420 they quoted me, would be appreciated.

Look At The "Parts" Below

There are several members selling parts from their vehicles . . . if you haven't already done so, you may want to contact them about the switchover.

Would it be too much to share the year and model? Can we assume it is an MB? Our mind reading skills here on mercedesshop are a little weak.

Good luck,

WHAT model & year?? IF that is a CLK then it shares most vacuum parts with the C-class.

MOST vent control problems AREN'T related to defective switch-over valve BUT to vacuum supply!

ARE the vents shutting off & then comming back ON.

Yes...

The center vents close when I accelerate and open when I let off the pedal. I get more defrost when I accelerate as well. I know that there may be some vaccum elements that are bad, but when I was in Miami (not anymore) my idny told me that the block was bad. He said no lines would hold a vacuum. So...that is how I came to a conclusion that I needed a new block.

I have an 93 S-Class that does the same thing. I'm very interested in what solution you find to correct your problem.

CLK320MIA... I was wondering if the replacement valve block solved your climate control issues.

thanks,
Russell

Since CLK320MIA did not respond on the outcome of the replacement switchover valve block, I'm curious if MBDoc has any suggestion on -

"The center vents close when I accelerate and open when I let off the pedal. I get more defrost when I accelerate as well. "

My S-Class 92 400se is suffering from a similar problem.

Thanks,

Vacuum supply is the answer! You need a vacuum guage to test that system.

Thanks,

I came to the conclusion that I needed a new block because I couldn't get a vaccuum at any of the lines from the block. You should do the same. Most likely in your case there will only be 1 or 2 lines where you won't be able to get a vaccuum. (vaccuum element) So stop whining and do some reasearch yourself, instead of looking for handouts.

CLK320MIA. Sorry if I offended you on my last post. Your problem sounded very similar to mine so I was very curious if the switchover block was the answer. Many times, the fix for the repair concerning the post never gets posted.

The beauty of this and other forums is the forum community allows others who have had success or failure with their automotive experiences to share their knowledge – hopefully giving insight to the next MB fix or project.

If you will search on my user ID you will see I’ve attempted to share my experiences with others too.

So when you accuse me of asking for "handouts" I’m offended you would make such statements.
