Opinion of Autolite's 3926 Sparkplugs

Figured I'd throw this out there since I'd like to change my plugs asap and nobody around here wants to carry the Boschs I desire. I figure they're copper and there's no resistor, so they'll due just fine. Anybody have any thoughts?

Notice they know not to even give you a choice ...
guess why....
..cuz they know 104.992 engines ONLY LIKE F8DC4s .. as they are not a conventional ignition system, they are a Waste Spark System.

Year and model?????

Most Mercedes REQUIRE non-resistor plugs for proper ignition system operation and using resistor plugs can cause idle roughness and high emissions, both due to misfires - maybe not when the plugs are new, but just wait a few thousand miles!

Go to Fastlane and order the correct Bosch spark plugs for your car. You'll have them next week, and you won't have to run all over town looking for them. Most auto parts stores DO NOT carry the proper Bosch non-resistor plugs for Mercedes and often cannot even order them.

yeah I figured nobody would have them. It's always, "we stock them we just don't stock them right now." Thanks for the input, I'll just go with the online order like I considered earlier. Maybe I'll just get the tune-up kit. Thanks again.

call Phil at Fastlane (see the banner at the top of merceedesshop home page); he will send the F8DC4 Bosch (assuming your engine is an M104) to you ASAP. They are about $2.00 +/- each.
regards,
Mark

yes it is the 104 engine, there's a MB specialist about 6 miles from me that I'm going to swing by tomorrow and see if he has any plugs. Haven't talked to him quite sometime, but he slipped my mind in my rush to find the plugs. Thanks, Barrett Jackson is on SpeedChannel right now FYI.

You actually still have those in Florida? In California most of the independents are gone. About all we have left are NAPA and "MacParts".

The best way to buy Merc parts is from Phil at Fastlane, or the dealer as a last resort if you need it today and he has it in stock. I get Fastlane parts the next day via ground UPS since they have a warehouse in So Cal.

There's not much that can't wait a day.

For the M104 Engine the manual specify FDC0 not FDC4.
Only the dealer sels FDC0 and they are 1.85 a piece.
Also the FDC4 have a washer and FDC0 does not.
My engine runs a lot better with FDCO (is what manufacturer recommends)

Better check your manual and correct your post. The plug number you typed is missing the digit that represents the relative heat range.

This is absolutely true. The NGK resistor plugs I have in my car worked great for the first few thousand miles (even passed the emissions test last year with flying colors). A few thousand miles later I had to reduce the gap by 1/2 just to get it to run without stalling and stumbling at a light.

I have the correct H9DC0 plugs (M103) ordered from FastLane along with my new voltage regulator. The local Autozoo and O'Reilly only listed the Bosch Super and NGK plugs for my car. Didn't know anything about the H9DC0.

The H9DC0 and H9DC ARE Bosch Super spark plugs, but parts stores usually only stock or can order the resistor version, HR9DC. the H9DC0 has a "heavy duty" electrode and replaced the H9DC as OE circa '86, but the H9DC is still approved by Mercedes.

Again, the issue is RESISTOR versus NON-RESISTOR, and there is no other line of readily available non-resistor plugs in the US other than the Bosch Super.
