where is the sunroof motor located in 420 sel?
I research that the motor is in the trunk. Does anybody know exactly where?
I just don't want to rip out anything unnecessary while getting to it. I am also looking for a used sunroof motor for this model 07000 74278. Thanks, John Last edited by pexcellence; 08-10-2005 at 02:10 PM. Reason: spelling |

www.car-part.com is a good place to locate a used motor. It is on the left side under the liner. Just pull the retaining pins out and the whole thing will come out. The motor is right near the hinge and has a feature for manual operation.

found it
It is in the trunk on the driver side next to the antenna motor. You'll need a 21 mm deep socket to operate it manually.
The motor still working intermittently. It makes a clackety sound when in tilt mode and when the roof retracts back. Almost like a strip gear. Also could be the cable binding from lack lubrication? I will have to pull everything apart. Any suggestion on the proper steps. Thanks, John |

Still stuck getting the motor out
Well, I found the motor and removed the cable. I also removed the two nut that hold down the assembly. Tried to yank it out but it still stuck to rod tube that the cable slide in. What to do next? Yank harder?
Also the manual operation to the motor stop working. At first, I was able to crank it open or close, but now doesn't work either way. There is a white pull on the assembly. How does this work? It seems to engage the gear. John |
