Shattered Window (Driver's)
Front driver's window is shattered. Look like somebody hit it, but nothing was stolen out of the car (window still 'intact').
Figure I will just replace it myself with a used piece (if I can hunt one down locally) or order a new piece. I've done plenty of window regulators of the last 10 years, so I can't imagine it would be too difficult? Yes? No? Also figured I would replace the regulator plastic slide on the lift arm while I am in there. I also considered using a mobile repair service as they are apparently pretty cheap, but my labor is always cheapest. I can also envision broken door panel clips and looese bolts- general sloppy work - especially as these old plastic parts snap easily with age. Anyone done this lately that can give me any tips?

I've never replaced the glass, but, I've done those plastic clips for the regulator.
Once you are inside the door, I can't believe that getting the glass to slip out the top and getting another piece in there would be a big effort. Like everything else, you will do a better job than a mobile chimpanzee. ![]() |

The only thing I am worried about is making sure the window lines up to spec. I guess it dpends on whether the new window glass comes complete the the metal base attatched...or I have to transer the old one. Does that make sense?
I ordered the window from the dealership (same price as fastlane), so I'll ask them for some tips.

The glass comes attached to the metal, replaced passenger side window many moons ago after a similar attack. The metal guide is held in place with 2 bolts making it a fairly easy job

Put the new window in today. Easy job.
Notcied the window regulator is cracked, so looks like I will be going back in there pretty soon. Does anyone know the type of grease the factory uses to lube the regulator and such?
