I just replaced the cylinder head gasket on my car and distributor rotor and rotor adaptor. the car starts up great but there is a low idle, between 500 and 1000 rpm and makes the car vibrate when its that low. since my tranny went south i cant really remember normal idle. how do you raise the idle? or is it normal at start up?
thanks in advance |

normal idle is 700ish warm outta gear.
600 in gear hot. 1200 cold start outta gear. Normally a faulty idle control valve is indicated by such symptoms, you could try giving it a clean - or as said above, one of the vaccum hoses may have a leak. |

kind of fixed it.
the hose going into my idle control valve was lose, 200,000mi and 14 years of ohio weather i guess. clamped it and it brought my cold start up idle to 1000. is there any thing else i am missing?
