I have a K40 set in my 500E with front and rear detector
and the head set above the sunvisor. It beeps constantly, even with or without signals, the beeps are 4-5 seconds apart and very annoying.

Anyone have any experience.

Do you still have the documentation for the unit? This could be a auto "Diagnostics Mode" of some sort.

I have a K40 also, but do not have the doc's and still have to order a set.

Information on the Web seems to be limited to Retailers because I still haven't found the manfacturer's home page.

Get a V1. K40s are so terrible and really expensive.

Hey thanks, I have this in my car and never knew how it worked. Where are the front and rear recievers located?

My car came with mine, so...

Removing it is not exactly an option as it is installed in the car with output LED's in the Instrument Cluster.

I have never seen a comparison of the K40 to any other radar detector's, has anybody seen this kind of info?

tryingstar,
The receivers are located under the rear/front bumpers. Take a peak with rag in hand because you wouldn't be able to read any ID number off the unit without cleaning it off.

k-40

I was thinking of putting one in my new car but I'm sorry
to say that the reviews I've read are at best fair. One person commented that he would rather turn it off rather than suffer through all the false alarms.

I've tried the K40 before. I found it to be more useful unplugged than plugged in. Get a Valentine One, they work great.

The K40 is old and pretty much useless. I live in Calif where, they do use radar but with laser radar guns and cops pacing nowadays. It is kind of useless. I have a K40 also but, found it pretty much useless. It came with the car also.
