Ignition switch problem

Stopped to put gas in the car.
When getting back in the ignition switch wouldn't turn.
Nothing I did worked. Tried moving the steering wheel back and forth while attempting to turn the switch, but it won't move.
The door locks all work with the key.
Is it switch just bad, or is there something I am missing.
Car is a 1990 190E 2.6

If you ever get the ignition to turn again with the key, DO NOT remove the key until you can get it fixed. On the newer (late 80s) cars, at least, the ignition is designed to be removed with a special tool and the key in the ignition. Without it, you'll probably have to have it drilled out.
