Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the pressure required to push on the accelerator pedal. I just purchased an sl320 and the pedal has a lot of resistance and it's difficult to slowly press it, so when you push it down the car ends up jerking forward - great in tight parking spaces. I thought maybe there might be a friction screw to lighten the pressure required. Thanks.

Brian, lubricate the throttle linkage with transmission fluid. This is one of those routine maintenance items that rarely, if ever, gets done. There is no way to change the pedal resistance, as such. My parents complain about the same thing on their 1995 E320.

I'm too lazy to check if it applies to your car, but on mine there is a spring (actually a spring within a spring) that goes from the front of the firewall to the linkage. I reached it by crawling underneath the car. There are a couple holes in the linkage. I moved the spring to the hole closest to the firewall and it reduced the foot pressure needed to overcome resistance.
