Diesel conversion

I want to put a diesel engine with a fuor speed auto tranny in a 1968 280 SE.
Beeing used to old Chevys, where you can swap engines between cars very easy, cause the v8 looks the same from 1957 to 1997, I got some questions:
Will a (for ex.) a 1985 300 TD fit in the car? Whats the difference in motor mounts etc? Is there a "better" engine to put in? Any tips are welcome
