190E 16V: Oil Lamp indicator lighted up.

Hello all,

Please let me know what could be wrong if my oil lamp indicator lighted up at the dash? The funny thing is that, it just came on for a little bit (about a min. or so) and off again; then it repeats it again and again while i am driving.

Also, like everyone else, my 16V overheat if i stuck in traffic. I understand it most likely related to the fan, but where and how do i change the fan switch? is it a dealer item? What is/are the most common things that cause the overheat to happen?

thank you,
Stanley

1.) Does the lamp come on on predominantly hard lefts?

This is common, and due to the oil sloshing away from the oil level sensor. When the engine is hot park it on level ground and turn off the engine. Then check you oil level. If the level is between the marks don't worry about it. When the light comes on and stays on and or the engine oil level is below the bottom mark add a quart.

2.) How hot does the temp gage read when sitting in a trafic jam, traveling at high speed, crusing around town... roughly?
