I have searched the archeives and not found an answer. I am removing the dash and think I have done everything the shop manual said to do (as I understand it). Both ends seem loose but the center seems quite tight and not moving. Have I missed something in the center or does it take some gentle persuasion?

The defrost ductwork is attached to the underside of the dash and is a friction fit with the top of the airbox. It may need persuasion upward. Assuming you removed all fasteners.

I rechecked all the instructions to confirm that I got them all and then used a lot (in my mind) of force/wiggling to get it loose.

You need to pull a little hard when you have it loose, it's almost like air locked or something. Also, is the cable behind the brake pedel unhooked to give it some slack.

On my '87, the center of the dash sat on two posts sticking up from the center console. Short of removing the entire center console (which I did not want to do), it required a lot of effort to squeeze the dashboard over the posts. And then again getting it back over them, and back fitting properly again.

I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this problem, but I did at least.
