HELP ME PLZ: Windows and Top won't go up

Hello all,

After three days of running around and trying to figure out the problem, I've got no answers. I'm posting here in hopes I'll get some answer(I hope/pray).

I've owned my 1995 SL320 for 2 weeks now and suddenly one day my roof top won't go up and my windows are stuck open. The power window buttons don't do anything if I press up or down. The roof top and roll bar buttons are lit red(non blinking). If I press those nothing happens.

I've checked all my fuses and all seem good. Where can I begin diagnoising this problem. Please help....

thank you..

-Carlo

Exclamation

To start with, do you have the owners manual? There is a section there on emergency operation of the top!

ALSO all of the fuses for the windows & top are in the trunk!

re: fuses..

Sorry I don't have the owners manual, however if need be I'll pick it up....unless you can explain it?

I checked all the fuses and nothing. I was told that MB has to do a reset via ECU..not sure if this is true or not, just seems so ODD to bring something like that in to the dlr.

Let me know where to proceed with this. thanks!!

Okay I checked the fuses

I went to the trunk, removed all the fuses and pushed it back in. Cranked the engine and still nothing.

Here's what I see

I start the car, The Roll Bar and Soft Top Switch lights are on. I don't seem to see any lights for the window switches(not sure if the Interior lights have to be on for this to display).

With the car OFF(switch pos 2), my voltmeter shows 11.6V. With the Engine running its about 14Volts.

Now one note, I do have the passenger door panel off, not sure if that would make a difference or not..but I removed it to start diagnosing.

Which pins do I check under the hood for soft top code? My diagnostic port is round under some cap.

Let me know the next step to check and thank you!!

sadly I've never worked on the 129 model, but it may also have a roll out trunk clearance sheet that needs to be in place like the SLK models.

The SLK and CLK Cabriolet models have one, but not the R129.

Thanks,
Iguess I'm going to be learning alot about the 129s, because I let my wife take a friend's 99 SLK to work on a couple of beautiful days. She drives the back roads into the Napa Valley. She thought the SLK was a slot car the way it took the curves at well above the suggested speeds posted. I'm planning on buying an early 129 in the next few months when the right one comes along. I'll probably sell my nice 67 230SL in the spring. We haven't driven it in several years. It sits in the garage covered with junk just like the 71 3.5 coupe sitting next to it. Now that I'm semi-retired I might be able to finish these projects, but I seem to be busier than ever.
