560sl, idling about about 2500 rpms too high. What are some things to check?

You ain't bangin' the ICV hard enough !

These beast burn up the idle control valve armatures and then melt down the controller module as it tries to drive the valve harder..

Try tapping on the idle valve and see if speed changes.
If it does, it might just be sticking....although I doubt it.

Tapping did no good but the idle did increase significantly when I disconnected the power to it. I guess I'll pull it off and try to clean it, maybe I'll get lucky.

If the idle went higher, my guess is the valve. Although it may still be have overloaded the driver module.
