95 E320 auto trans slipping in reverse

I have a '95 MB E320 4 dr sedan (112,000 mi) with auto transmission that is slipping in reverse. When I put it into reverse it takes a couple of seconds to engage; then, when I accelerate (still in reverse) it slips until I let off and then re-accelerate. Am I looking at a trans. removal and replacement or is this repairable?

Exclamation

Might try search feature on 722.3 reverse clutches. Common failure & costly to repair. IF you wait the repair will become a trans replacement!

'95 E320 722.369 tranny

Can you recommend a reputable MBZ transmission rebuilder/remanufacturer in California?

Any luck with your transmission? I have the same problem with my 94 E320.

Unhappy 1994 E320 Transmission Slipping in all gears

I have a 1994 E320 Cabriolet and the transmission has started to slip in drive and reverse intermittently. After a few seconds it reverts to normal operation. I found a MB Technical Bulletin #199 on AllData that refers to this condition and suggests the replacement of a rubber check ball #20 on the transmission plate. Has anybody had this repair, and how much did it cost?
