My memory is foggy here, but I remember this:
-old W126 (-1985) trim goes in LAST after the glass & seal are in -new W126 (1986-) trim goes in WITH the glass & seal I remember pulling the trim (but leaving glass & window in) when I had my 83 300SD painted. When they were done, I unmasked the seal and put the trim back in. Never took the window out, so I know it's possible to put just the trim in. I've heard the newer ones are IMPOSSIBLE to put the trim in if you didn't do it with the window. I used a rubber mallet (carefully) and had a couple of dabs of 3M weatherstrip adhesive on the back end of the trim. Went in without a problem. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong... Neal
