I have a c200 1995. It has a strong smell of sulfur from the cats so Im guessing that their time is up. I was planning of gutting the cats however im concerned it will throw an error in the computer....

Also, ignition misfire can cause the same symptoms. If you don't have an oxygensensor after the cat, you should not get a check-engine light. ![]()

Well, i had issues with rich mixture a while ago which is now remidied. I think it might be the brand of fuel. If i switch to caltex (chevron?? over there) it stops it...however with shell it does create the smell. It only seems to be after i push it up a hill or something simular.
I also notice i get an intermittant abs ligt. about once every couple of months itl start with the abs light on. No problems. Restart and it goes out. The ovp was has been replaced Last edited by kiwi_bloke; 11-15-2005 at 04:17 PM. |

Yes, the smell could very well be related to the brand of fuel too.
It is normal for the cat to smell, after the engine has been worked very hard ( passing, long uphill climbs, etc. ). On 3/4 to full power, there is a lot of fuel processed ( sometimes slightly more than necessary ), which makes the cat work " overtime ". Sorry, can't help you on the ABS issue. ![]()
