S320 Transmission Slipping

1995 S320 Transmission is slipping (intermittently) after you apply the brakes and do not come to a complete stop but then try to accelerate again. It happens about twice a day now. Once you pull over and restart the engine all is fine and the car will run normally until you get into a similar driving situation. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

I thought I'd start with a fluid and filter change but have not had the time to get under the car. Any other ideas?

Same thing happened to my nephews 1995 S320. It seemed that the shifter was messed up and the little cover that slides with the shifter was messed up. I think this is a common problem amongst S320s. Also, did you have problems with the headlights cracking very easily?

My headlights have been fine...but now that you mention it, I have had problems with the transmission jumping if I ever rested my hand on the shifter when I am on the highway. Maybe it's related. I think I've heard that there is a switch in the shifter.

His S320's headlights cracked a minor rock chip and once we replaced one side, the same thing happened to the other. We are thinking about buying plastic headlight covers from Performance Products. If you subscribe or know of the website I suggest you do the same, just to be on the safe side. The S320's are very nice. My nephews has 80,000 and is white over beige. He has the stock chrome rims and an S600 grille. Me and my brother drove it to the doctors office and someone asked if that was the doctors car!
What color is your 320??

I always have my hand on the shifter in my car and sadly it kinda wore out the color it went from a beige to a dark brown on a portion of it,it looks really weird, but its hard to notice.
