I recently purchased a 1984 500SEL from an estate. The engine and transmission had been replaced and there was less than 10k miles on the both. The problem was the car would not start if the ignition key was held and the engine turned over more that three or four times. If the key was released the engine might start immediately. Usually the car would start within two or three tries and when it did start it felt as if the engine was flooded. After starting the car would start and run until the following morning then the same problem. Now the car will not start and there is no spark from the coil to the distributor and plugs. There is 12 volt power to the coil and I have replaced the coil with out success. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Best regards
