Unhappy Disconnected c230 battery now problems

Hi,

Can someone help me with this problem? I recently disconnected my battery on my 1998 c230, because the engine light came on. Prior to doing this the car was running great. Now it runs like crap, missing when I mash down on the padle and sluggish. Did I affect the setting in the computer, if so can I reset it to the default setting and get on with life. Thanks for your help!

if your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on then it may not be easy to get back to the way things were.

Do a search here under C230 & check engine light. Pull some codes and go from there.

My guess is you need a new AMM.
How many miles on your car and do you have service records that record if a new AMM has ever been installed on your car.

Disconnect 1998 c230 battery

The car has 99,945 miles on it. I bought it with 46,000, I don't think its ever been replaced. I think things really got bad when I got on the interstate this week. Is there a possibility that someone can throw off the computer by disconnecting the battery? I was told that you can by a tech. I have been searching the check engine light all day, however no one talked about my problem. How do you pull codes without the euipment or is there some other way.

Thanks Etah for your response!!!

You will need something like this to read & erase codes.

Unless you know somebody with one or something like it.
Some people say Autozone did this for free.

I've had Autozone pull my error codes, I appreciate the service and tip the employee a few.

Do a search here under code P0170.

Also check under the hood to make sure all the ducting for the intake is tight and connected.
