Is it ok to use STP Octan Booster on 560SEL 1989?
Actually I will use the car in a place that doesn't have a premium fuel. I guess it would be less than 90 maybe 85 or less, so is it ok to use STP Octan Booster on an 560 engine?
The STP bottles I got mentioned that it also contains a cleaner. Thank you : ))..

octane boost
I don't know which of all the octane boost additive's is best, but if you get pre-ignition any one of them is better than none at all. I'm sure a more experienced forum member will be able to answer your question in a more definitive sense.

FYI ."...................Toluene-laden fuels burn slower and make less power on high-revving engines. So much in fact that much of the air/fuel mixture is still burning as the charge exits through the exhaust valve. This is a sure way to destroy your emissions-control equipment and not pass smog. For these reasons, true race fuels don't just use toluene or other active ingredients to boost the octane. Instead they use better-refined hydrocarbon chains that raise octane while retaining optimal combustion characteristics.

In your case an Octane booster will probably be OK but over doing it will just be a wast unless you do something to advance the timing or if you have a knock sensor. The truth is high octane fuels burn slower. Therefore to take advantage of them you need to compensate by advancing the spark or raising the compression.
Years ago I worked on Formula Atlantic race cars, every now and then we had to dump a tank of fuel from a car. Among the crew we used to fight over who got to put in there own car. If I recall the fuel we used in those cars was 118 Octane Cam 2. I used to put it right into my 69 Cutlass. The car would go noticeably slower but become extreamely quite. A boost in timing would have brought it to a higher performance level than stock. John Roncallo |

Given the nature of CIS injectors, they tend to clog and spray poorly. A good cleaner can do wonders for a set of clogged injectors. The important thing to remember is to not overdo the concentration. The very expensive fuel distributor could possibly be damaged by overdoing it.
As far as an octane boost, you shouldn't need it if you're burning premium fuel. |

I checked the bottle (STP orange bottle) and found no mention of anything related to it's contents, just that it treats up to 15 gal.

Try just running the car on regular. My bet is that you won't notice a difference unless you floor it at low revs. Then if it knocks, you'll have a reason to add an anti-knock additive.
