I have a 85 190e and I wanted to know can the driveshaft be put on without the bushing that goes in the shaft in front of the trans I belive it is called a centering sleve?

That's why it is called a centering sleeve. It centers on the tailshaft. The rubber disc is just how you connect the trans to the driveshaft. You leave that sleeve out and you'll go down the road shakin like a dog *****in peach seeds.
