SRS light
Finally got a chance to finish up the SRS (airbag and belt-tensioners) install, but I have a question about the SRS-light. It goes on with ignition, and then switches off when I start the car, regardless of how long I preglow it. Is this how it should be? I was under the impression that it was supposed to go on for a few seconds, and then switch off?
The kit I installed is from a '91, so it has the updated system (as of 87). How does it work in your cars? |

What I know is that when u switch on the ignition (engine off) the SRS red light should be on for only for arround few second (arround 2~3) then should be off.
What is the model and type of ur car anyway??? Listen, If u turn on the ignition (engine off) and the SRS red light remains on for more than 5 seconds then I'm afraid that the wired this light with something else just to show that it's working but actually it's not. Make sure of that point. I'm not an expert but if this is ur case then it sounds abnormal. By the way the SRS light always on and no one could fix it on my 560SEL 1989 as well as my 560SEC 1989. Good luck : ))..

That's what I'm suspecting as well, the only thing I've got no is a "bulb-OK"-indicator... It is connected through the fusebox and to a connector with constant plus (also on the fusebox btw), I guess one of these are faulty/wrong then...
My car is an 84 (which is why I had to retrofit seatbelt-restraints as well), but the airbag-kit is from a 91.. About your light; It is most likely due to A) You've had the steering-wheel or belts disconnected with ignition on OR B) A wire is broken. Your car should have a diagnostic plug in the passengerside footwell where MB can check for errors as well as to put out your light (will of course come right back on if error isn't mended). |

That's true, the main difference is that there is only one box controlling it compared to earlier models...
