My IR stopped working and have replaced battery in key. Can anyone tell me how to determine is unit is bad and how to replace? Thanks! John

Try the fuses under the hood. I didnt check there, and took to the dealer. They diagnose as a faulty unit, and I thought what the hay, I'll check them damn fuses. Popped the hood, and presto, two burnt out fuses.

One fuse was burnt for the alarm, and the other was for the IR unit. Its worth a shot, bt no gauranteed.

No luck on the fuses Justin. Have you ever replaced the IR unit?

Sorry. Cant say that I have. I would try mbworld.org. They seem to have a fairly large R129 section, that seems to cover just about any kind of repair you could think of. I know that the IR units are fairly pricey, so I would definitely try to cover all of the bases in the dignoses department.

One other question. When you trun the key to lock/unlock, do the lights on the IR unit blink? If they do, then I am pretty sure it is workin. If not, you need a new IR unit, or to check the wiring.
