Issues with my car
Hi everyone. I am having just a few minor issues with my '02 C230 Kompressor Coupe that I would like to possibly resolve myself instead of taking it to Mercedes and having them charge me $4835345784570328457 to fix these things. If anyone can help me out, I will love you forever. Here's my deal:
Clutch area - I am not sure of what this is called exactly, but that plastic thingy where the leather bunch and the clutch is that says what gear your car is in... well for some reason, that popped off... how it popped out is beyond me, but when I try to put it back on, I can tell it's still loose and is going to move as soon as I move my car out of park. I looked at it, there are 5 holders (2 drivers side, 1 front, 1 back, 1 passenger side), and none appear broken. Is there some special procedure for this? Cup Holder - At first it was cute, now it's just a pain in my be-hind. It's one of those where you press a button and it retracts up into two cup holders. Looks really high-tech, but it's all plastic So anyway, if you know what I'm talking about, the little door thingy at the bottom when I want to close my cupholder came out... how that came out is also beyond me. But it did. So I tried putting it back in, it's really hard, I can't seem to get the longer right side in. So while I was trying to do that, some round thing comes out from the bottom of the cup holder. I have obviously never seen the bottom of my cupholder so I have no idea where this is supposed to go. How can I take it out? I am sure I can fix it if I can figure out how to take it out and put it back in. Now it's just stuck up (like the owner haha just kidding). Windows - thanks to CARSON (THANK YOU, Ray!), my windows are now happily rolling up and down. They will do the auto-roll down, but they won't auto roll back up anymore, I have to keep holding it. I know it sounds like I spend all day trying to pop things out of their place, but I promise I don't. LoL. OK now... if you haven't already figured it out, I am a girl, and I will freely admit that I know crap about fixing cars, but I am a very good instruction follower. Soooo, if anyone has any input I would really appreciate your input and informative instruction. THANK YOU!! |

The obvious question is "is it under warranty"? I will assume that it is just barely not, that you bought it in the fall of 2001. Assuming it just left warranty, and considering that you are a girl I recommend this strategy: Go to the dealer and say "There is a problem with my car. I think there were some BMW parts installed in it by mistake". When they ask why you think that say, "because they broke". If they think this is funny enough then they might fix them for you for free. My GF got her BMW cup holder fixed this way, by saying she thought that a Mercedes part hed been installed accidentally (my idea). By the way, that number is bigger than the national debt.

Mike... isn't it obvious... Mercedes has programmed their cars to break as soon as the warranty expires.
Ah... pretty smart technique... I may try that. I'm pretty cute, I'm sure I can pull it off. I may have exaggurated that price a bit, in reality it would only cost 1 arm. |
