My '96 SL600 drivers side seat belt is too tight and I am baffled as to how to lengthen it. I have adjusted the head rest switch as much as possible and it's still too tight. The seat memory position does not affect the belt. This is embarassing, but does anyone have an idea on this?

Define the situation more clearly...

Is it too tall for you or too short?

It is too tight across your chest or over your shoulder?

My 96 SL600 has seatbelts that are quite loose, until you jerk then. Then theystop on a dime. I think you may have a problem with the retractor, as it may be pulling on the belt too hard.
