Blower motor question in 300CE

I have a 1990 300CE.
My A/C and blower motor stopped working yesterday.
The A/C does not turn and neither the blower for outside air.
I checked the strip fuse 30Amp, was OK, I still replaced it but
still no luck.
One thing I had soldered a resistor on the temperature switch
to make the fans come on earlier and it did.
I got the exact resistor that was a special order from Radio Shack.
This is the web site: http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_S500.html
where I got this info from.
I took the resistor out but still no luck.
The A/C does not turn on either.
All of this died at the same time.
Any ideas.

Check the fuse for the climate control unit (in the fuse box, not the strip fuse on the shock tower). If this goes, or the connection is bad, everything stops working. This happened to me earlier this year, and I freaked out for a bit (new pushbutton unit: $$$) until I rotated the fuse and everything started working again.

Regarding the blower motor

Yeah, that is the first thing I checked is the strip 30Amp fuse which was OK but I still replaced it with a new one.
Upon further checking, that fuse 7 was blown and that blows when the A/C is turned on. This is due to the bad A/C clutch and the blower motor is on the same circuit.
I already had replaced the A/C clutch once 5 years ago.
So, this time replace the original compressor with a new one. Has served like 15 years.
I think I might also have the A/C rubber hoses rebuilt as the ones there are 15 years old.

Specs for blower motor?¿

I have had two blower motors quit running, so far, this summer; one was the OEM motor that came on the car, the second was one I purchased from a salvage yard.

Every component of my a/c works except for the fan, and I really can't be too upset that the junkyard blower didn't hold up. It was probably as old as my original.

If I knew the specs on the motor -- amps, correct rpm for "high" operation, etc., I could probably just buy a comparable motor off a shelf, and use it. I am skilled in sheet metal fabrication, and believe I could fabricate a shroud that would bolt up to the blower box on my '80 300SD.

Can someone help with the #'s I need, please? I'd be happy to post pics of the finished product for other members, once the project is completed. Let's face it, new OEM motors are just too pricey for an old beater, and sooner or later, we'll all need some alternative to what is working now.

Where is the blower motor in the 300CE? I have an aquaintence who has an '88 300CE and his blower motor is not working and the fuse is ok.

Under the windshield wiper assy. Remove cowling plastics and wiper motor and it's right there. Mine stopped running so before ordering a new one I pulled it to verify it was the motor as everything else checked out. Pulled it out, lubed the bearings and threw it back in. It still makes noise when it is cold or during right turns, but at least I have heat until the new one arrives. Not too tough really, biggest pain is getting the cowling plastics out of the way.
Not a bad idea to relube the wiper transmission while apart.

So it's the same as the w201 body, which I've opened up several times.

My monowiper was always giving me troubles, until I lubed it with ATF.

Thanks!
