2000 S500 When turning the steering wheel I can hear a popping noise

Hi, I seem to have a slight problem.

When I move my steering wheel wide to the left then back I can hear a popping noise coming from the wheels/struts and I can feel it in the steering wheel.. I had a mechanic take a look at it, but he checked everything and said he couldn't find the problem. But since I can feel it in the steering wheel wouldn't it most likely be coming from there? Or could it be a strut mount?
