I just did all 4 rear subframe bushings on my w201 16v. The front pair went very well after following the directions that cornblatt cooked up at
Rear axle carrier (subframe) mounts / ball joints ('84 190D) but the rear ones were a PITA. Somebody suggested to let the weight of the car push the bushings out the bottom of the subframe, but mine were in there too tightly.
The MB recommended puller is in the 5-600$ range, but I made this out of some 4' copper pipe, 1/8' plate, a 5 inch all-thread bolt and some washers. The pipe should have about 2.75 inches cut out so it can fit properly into the subframe.
Now, this thing aint even farm-boy pretty, but it did the job. Stack the washers on the bottom, then the plate, then the pipe, and put the bolt up through the bottom and through the hole in the bushing. Screw the nut onto the bolt and tighten the bolt till the bushing comes out the bottom.
Notes: I would have used steel pipe if I had any. Use a bottle jack and some silicone/dielectric grease to get the new bushings up there. Grease the socket in the new bushings; my old bushings had corroded from the inside and looked okey from the outside.
