1989 420 SEL fuse list

Just bought 1989 420 SEL yesterday with no manuals. Have been researching internet and past threads to find but having no luck. Blower fan for heat-A/C not working. Everything else works great.

The layout is in the Benz World site mentioned in previous post, if you look down a list of posts to the 6th or 7th one. Also, there is a complete on line manual available for the 126, I believe it is in the MB club Russian, from which you can print or download info. The fuse box layout is in there, within the 170 or more pages of the electrical diagnostic area of the manual. Ben Carter

Thanks Blue Eagle

That was just what I was looking for. I'm in the process of fixing up these MB's for my sons. I think though that the 420 SEL will be for me. I test drove it yesterday and it's a little bit to much car for the kids.

I did not wait all day in the cold standing next to that car, scaring people off.
Trying to get you to buy it, for you to keep it for yourself.
Its not too much car, its just a better one, and not good for someone we know of.
I'll talk to you later.

Yes, my 420SEL runs pretty well and will get up an go if you put the pedal to the metal ..... I am selling my 450SEL, but the 420 and the 99ML are very good cars that I drive quite a bit. The ML is my "daily driver" and my Corvette just waits for Sunday to "stretch its legs"! Good luck with the cars and let me know if you have a questions re 420SEL DIY stuff ... I may be able to help. No climate control in my 420 SEL

Thanks for the help Blue Eagle. I've found some other info on the 420 SEL but still having a problem with climate control. Nothing works at all. I can't even get the fan to blow. Checked both fuses #5 and #16 both good. Can't find a definitive picture of the relays yet , but I'm still looking. Are there any other relays that would affect this besides anything in the fuse panel?

Red face Climate Control

There are a lot of relays and vac hoses and electrical connections that affect the CC and some of the problems can be in the switches behind those CC dash buttons and dials ..... that is the most difficult system to diagnose, but not as bad as my 76 450SEL, which has a servo system out in the engine area that controls all the hot water and AC etc etc ..... You just have to check every connection and subsystem --- which can be a daunting process.
Sometimes a minor fix or contact cleaning can be the cure .... Ben Carter
