380 crankshaft nut
In regard to my previous timing chain thread, dissassembly is going well. When I put down the wrenches yesterday I was stuck. Could not get the crankshaft nut off. Tried my air impact wrench, tried blocking the breaker bar on the frame rail and bumping the starter. It will not budge. Currently soaking it in PB Blaster, will try again tonight.
Any suggestions for how to break it loose? I have read the Maint CD, since it only gives the size of the bolt I have assumed it is right hand threads, is that correct? |

i dont know
what the recommended proceedure is but i prob would put a big screwdriver on the flywheel and then use a bigger breaker bar. a 3/4" drive with a 4' pipe.

There are some other posts on this subject. There is a special tool that you bolt in place of the starter to lock the flywheel. But a lot of people use the screw driver as mentioned below. I have not tried it myself but it sounds like the way to go. I do not recommend the starter bump method you mention. That sounds like a recipe for trouble IMHO.
