Ok to Split w126 front seats for shipping?
I bought a pair of seats in excellent condition from a `91 w126. We're getting high shipping quotes from the freight companies ($280) and they won't insure them. The seller asks if it would be ok to split the seats so he could ship in two pieces (bottom and backrest) via UPS, which should be cheaper and they'll insure them.
Any reason not to do that? Also, I'm no mechanic, are we talking major surgery to put them back together again? I'm fine with doing the actual seat swap it looks pretty straightforward. Thanks in advance for your help. Bill
