instrument cluster removal..help
I have a E320 year 2000 and need advice on instrument cluster removal and bulb replacement. I have eased out the cluster from the dash and see that there are electrical connectors attached. I'm assuming they need be removed ,I can't feel or see any bulb holders . Do I need to remove the back part of the cluster to replace bulbs. Should I disconnect the battery first (is there an easy way)
Also need to remove a air vent to replace buld which illuminates vent directional dial Thanks Brad |

Absolutely disconnect the battery before performing any type of electrical task. Should be disconnected even before attempting to remove the cluster. Not sure about the E-class, but on the S-Class that year, it is not as simple as a bulb replacement. Hopefully the E-Class does not have the same setup.
Not sure about an "easy" way to disconnect the battery. As far as I know, they are all the same - you loosen the bolt and disconnect the cables. Are the newer Mercedes different? Good luck. Last edited by 86560SEL; 01-19-2006 at 08:25 PM. |
