instrument cluster removal..help

I have a E320 year 2000 and need advice on instrument cluster removal and bulb replacement. I have eased out the cluster from the dash and see that there are electrical connectors attached. I'm assuming they need be removed ,I can't feel or see any bulb holders . Do I need to remove the back part of the cluster to replace bulbs. Should I disconnect the battery first (is there an easy way)
Also need to remove a air vent to replace buld which illuminates vent directional dial

Thanks Brad

Absolutely disconnect the battery before performing any type of electrical task. Should be disconnected even before attempting to remove the cluster. Not sure about the E-class, but on the S-Class that year, it is not as simple as a bulb replacement. Hopefully the E-Class does not have the same setup.

Not sure about an "easy" way to disconnect the battery. As far as I know, they are all the same - you loosen the bolt and disconnect the cables. Are the newer Mercedes different?

Good luck.
