Smog pump is not working on cold start in my 560SEL 1989
I wounder what is the most common issue when the smog pump doesn't work when cold start and never works anyway. Everything is connected properly including the air hoses to the vacuum. What could cause such problem? Thanks : ))..

Air Pump
Disconnect the thing and don't worry about it. It was required by US emissions rules, to get the catalyst going faster. It typically operates a minute or two on cold start only, then does nothing (but costs $$ to replace).
Unless of course your local emissions rules require it to be operational. They can't test it for actually operating as long as the engine is warm (it has a clutch similar to an air conditioning compressor, to turn it on and off), so leave it connected if necessary.

Yes you are right but I want to know why it's not working on cold
 Here they all disconnect it but I don't want to do so. Thanks : ))..

When I connect it to a direct electricity it works but on early cold morning never!

Could it be the idel control module?
