88' w124 Fuel issue

Just got a squeaky clean 260E with all original docs and records From the original owner I have known for 15 years. It needs a fuel filter and I have no Mercedes experience but want to do it myself.
1) Where is the filter located and
2) I need a manual for this vehicle.

I ws told it was a frame mount pump and filter but it is not on the frame. Is it under the trunk pan near the tank, or under the hood?

1 - 10 how difficult is the replacement?

Thanks for helping a newbie!

There is a plastic cover underneath the car just in front of the right rear wheel. Remove that cover and the fuel filter is on a mount next to the fuel pump. Make sure you get the filter in the right direction when you replace it. With a 1 on your scale being the simplest job, it is a 1 except very messy since it is above you while you are working and will drip gasoline on you. I would not recommend smoking a cigarette while you do this job.

Make sure you get the copper washers on the banjo bolts correctly.

Good luck,

Larry and Kent,
Thanks so much for the help, I'll send you some pics of the car.
It is a red 1988 260E with 36,751 miles, sharp. Older owner has
not driven her in a while.
