Another odometer question?

Greetings. (previously posted in SL Forum).
I've inspected odometer (82 380SL) and it appears that one of the plastic gears is busted, missing teeth, etc. (Yes, I adjusted trip-odometer while driving because regular odometer appeared to have stopped - dammit).

It's the smaller, yellowish (approx. 6mm?) gear on the end of the spindle. This smaller gear drives the larger, nickel-sized black gear.
Is it possible to purchase just this tiny gear and replace myself?
If DIY, do I access by removing clear housing?
BTW, I've been studying these posts regarding the "grey metal pot gear" and mine appears to be black plastic.

Any help appreciated. Thanks to all.
