I'm thinking of buying a 560 with monster miles - 270k, but it seems really good despite this as it was chauffeur driven most of it's life. It is a 1990 with so much history I can't go through it in detail yet.

Any experiences with similar cars, and am I mad to even think about it?

i think that's a push...unless the transmission and a/c have been done....

plus by now add suspension rubber to that mix..and shocks

Mine had 296K miles on original engine and tranny when I gave it away to a friend who's still driving her daily. Everything works except the sunroof. It had rough idle that I could find a cause but as soon as step on the gas, it drove smoothly. I think part of the reason she's still running is because I maintained her well.

It's an old car so the maintenance is going to be more than a newer car. If you are a DYI kinda guy, and the car has all the service records up todate, and costs around $2K.. go for it

If this is going to be your ONLY car.. then.. don't do it...
