Does anyone have a web site or other source to find the explanation for the 7 digit damage codes that show up under vehicle history on the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) report that can be run by a Mercedes dealer? I think the service department at the local Mercedes dealer should be able to get them, but I would prefer to save the time of having to go to the dealer for this.
Any info would be appreciated. |

I went to a service tech at my local Mercedes dealer this week to see if he could get the info on the damage codes. I thought they would have some sort of a listing that would make it a simple job to find the codes with a description of what repair work the code stands for. Wrong! According to the service tech, he would have to search the micro-fiche for each specific code and it could take a lot of time. Since I wanted these codes for a vehicle that this dealer wasn't selling, I didn't push him to spend the time to look them up.
Is Mercedes this backwards when it comes to this area, or is the service tech just uninformed? |

He is correct! The first 2 numbers are the part of the car that was worked on. ie; 82 0000 00 is an electrical problem like the lights. Of course when booking a warranty repair the damage code lets MB know what was wrong & what was done to complete repair. If you aren't in a BIG hurry then e-mail me & I can look them up if it isn't 2-3 pages worth.
