W124 93 E320 Engine low intake

Hi...

I own a 93 E320 W124 Merc.

This happened to me three times on distant occasions. While I on the highway (approx. 120 kph) the engine suddenly slows down and starts to vibrate mildly (vibrations more visible at lower speeds), and the acceleration dies making the car take ages to increase its speed. I noticed that this would happen when I drop my speed then try to raise it up again (ex. 120 to 80 then climbing back to 120 at a normal rate). Again this happened only 3 times over the last year so I really do not know what exactly triggers it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Its tough to test for something that's not there at the moment.

Yeah, an event that has happened 3 times in the past year would be hard to diagnose if it couldn't be reproduced for testing purposes.

Out of curiosity,

Does your car have the original engine wiring harness?

Does your car have the original OVP (over voltage protection relay)?

What plugs are you running?

Have you ever replaced your coil wire resistor boots?

Thanks for the feedback...

I have had this car for 4 years now, before that i was with its original owner in germany.

I am willing to change any parts in my car, regardless original or not, since I do not know the parts history and the car has travelled almost 300k km. I have already changed some parts and will replce the items you advised.

If there is anything else please tell me.

Regards.
