Faulty W140 S-Class evaporators!!

I thought that was very interesting. Perhaps this means that the same faulty evaporators from the W140 was used in the W220? And how come such a recall was never performed in the USA? I searched the databases and the S-Class has received just two recalls since 1998 and they were for minor stuff like faulty interior light bulbs, etc.
Mercedes-Benz better clean up its act quickly. The newest Consumer Reports issue that just came out yesterday has Mercedes-Benz models ranked dead last amongst all 5 year old car in reliability!! This has to be a new low. I know many things have been put in place to fix the quality of the new cars, including a huge $1 billion charge for doing so, but for now those who bought Benzes from the "bad years" are stuck with the outrageous expenses of keeping them running. Too bad. What a shame on the (once) mightly three pointed star!
