Torsion Bar Removal Help Needed.

I decided to post to this site as I figured there may be more experience from someone on this issue. I have a 2000 ML430 and am attempting to remove the bottom half assembly of the torsion bar. The instructions indicate to remove the bolt, however I cannot remove it. I am referring to the bolt that adjusts the torsion bar. Can anyone provide input?

My original post without reply is: Seeking torsion bar shim plate R&R instructions

Are you referring to the actual torsion bar? I went thru the process of learning how to do it when I had to repair my drivers side CAT on my ML. There should be some threads on the ML forum about the process.

Hey Ron. There are threads, two of which I started. The responses all state to remove the adjuster bolt. My problem is removing the adjuster bolt, even with an impact gun. Is there some special way to remove them? Also I would assume to remove them, you turn them in the direction that would raise the height of the front.

Steve- I don't remember exact procedure I followed. Search ML forum using my name and the keyword cat. The threads should be there.
