Never noticed any of the late model MB's doing it though. Maybe I need to pay closer attention.

I have not seen any of the newer ones do it- or none that I have noticed. Yesterday (Friday) the lady at work that has the 2000 S430 (perhaps a S500) was leaving. I was out on the bench and had a perfect view of her car. I noticed when she put it in reverse and drive- the car stayed perfectly level and the shifts into reverse then into drive seemed silky smooth. I took notice of this, because I was thinking how I wish my 380 went this smoothly into reverse. Mine is smooth into reverse when the tranny temperature is cool and as mentioned, it raises in the rear, but when the tranny is hot, it harshly bangs into reverse (at times) and not much movement noticed then. When shifted into drive, it is pretty smooth at all times, but still sometimes stalls out at warmer temperatures. maybe one day I will get around to removing and cleaning the idle solenoid.

The newer ones have computer controlled transmissions. The engine speed stays constant as well from gear to gear.

I see. No wonder it was so smooth.

Best riding MB by far, our W126's ride like buck wagons compared to them. ABC is a really cool feature, slam on the brakes the car stays level, corner at the limits still level. But it will still soak up all the road imperfections like a Caddy.

........buck wagons.........yep.........sometimes that's exactly the way they ride........I see relatively smooth pavement.........they are banging up and down like they are on cobblestones.

And, with all three of them doing the same thing.......it's not one specific vehicle.

Yeah noticed the same thing, you feel every bump with these cars. But they don't corner like their suspension would suggest.
