Door Hinge Lube
Yesterday I bought some fuel line for my money pit 300SE and while at the store, saw a small grease gun and an adapter. It's made by Plews/LubriMatic model 30-132 and the Needle Nose Adapter model 05-05. The package comes with a small grease tube. I mentioned to the counter man that I was going to try it on my MB and he said it would work. I tried it on the hinges and it worked well.
The Gr. Gun kit was $14.29 and the needle adapter was $13.08. Pics to follow.

I'm in pain...I followed your advice...have been to two autoparts stores and tried two brands of mini grease guns (Powerbuilt & OEM) and been unable to get the guns to operate (it doesn't help that nobody working in the stores knows how to operate them). I now have the OEM brand www.oem-tools.com mini gun (25703) with needle (25719) but after loading it with grease and pumping the trigger nothing comes out. Before I left the store, I asked them about attaching the needle to the coupler since no instructions are provided. He unscrewed the coupler end, removed a small spring, inserted the needle and put it back together again. Something tells me its blocked and there is some type of adapater that is supposed to go between the coupler/needle. Anybody have any experience with this? Thank you.

Just passing along my lessons...
If you haven't used a grease gun before don't be surprised if the folks at the auto parts stores don't know how to use them. An easier solution is to buy a spray can of white lithium grease and use the plastic spray tube to get the grease in that hinge eyelet. Worked great for me. |

WD40 is not a lubricant. Mercedes hinges up at least through the 123's have a lube fitting that easily take the needle tip from a grease gun. You can buy a needle end for about five bucks.
