Hello!
The air pump on my 300e 24v -91 (ac equipped M104.980) sounds like a old Messerschmitt when engine is cold.
Now I have to remove the pump to fix it, can I install a shorter serpentine belt meanwhile? (so I can drive to my job).

I think the 2415mm should fit (so I bought one), my old belt is 2445mm long.

Let us know if it works -- I'd be surprised, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I thought that the airpump on my 91 300CE was making the noise that I was hearing so I ordered a remanufactured one and paid $260. for it...still have the receipt. I put it in only to realize the old one was good and it was the alternator. If you would like it, I would be willing to sell it for $220.00. I have driving with a shorter belt and no airpump for six years now. Don't remember the lenght of the belt.

I should have taken my own advice. I was able to use the same belt, the belt tensioner took up the small amount of slack that removal of the air pump created.

I also bought a plug from the dealer to fill the hole that was created on the engine from removal of the air pumps associated piping. MB part number A1040160033.
