Where can I get hold of a hand-held tester (or alternative) for MB cars? I looked into the parts-shop but I can't seem to find its listing there.

JCE - Thanks for your direction. Don't think it helped much. I am more keen on acquiring a hand-held tester. Know where to get one?

Sin Sahib...

When you say tester, do you mean a simple 12v voltage probe, a multimeter, or this stuff? http://www.technictool.com/mercedes.htm

http://www.************************ has Hartmann fault code counters in their catalog (ordered through their web site, specific to each model MB). I think they are just a digital counter that does the same pulse counting as the above circuit, but sums the pulses and displays them as a number for you to look up in their handbook, for a lot more money. I believe it was 93 or so that MB went to more elaborate test equipment.

Hi JCE & Scott - the hand-held tester is actually a diagnostic equipment (OEM manufactured) that is plugged into the diagnostic socket of the MB.

Think I might have some leads on where to get on of this?

The HHT hasn't been produced or available for over 4 years!!
Dealers use IBM laptops with a program called Star Diagnosis. Available from Mercedes for a MERE $20,000. That includes a license for 1 year.

If you are dead set on an HHT email me as I know a fellow in Taiwan who has been selling them. He also is selling the Autoland OB91 which is made in Taiwan and sold in the US as the CS2000 see http://www.baumtools.com .

The site for Autoland is http://www.autolandscientech.com

The newest module will do most functions of the Star and HHT including variant coding and activations. It will cylinder balance the late model cars by killing injectors one at a time.
