Missing OBD II Port on 1999 W202 - Cover up??

Been looking high and low for the OBD II port on my C200 Elegance 1999. I easily see the Benz port under the hood at the computer module box. Any ideas as to where I can plug in a scanner? Would appreciate any advice.

added: pls see photos below.

It should be in the cockpit within a couple feet of the steering wheel, usually under the steering column.

No visible panel to open

Yes had a look before but found that the whole underside of the steering column was screwed tight. Wonder if I have to unscrew the whole thing (1 ft x 2ft). Maybe I am not looking at the exact location I am supposed to be looking at?

Matt, I just hooked up an OBD II unit to my Mom's 1998 W202 the other day. I believe it's the same as for your 1999 vehicle.

It has a little rectangular cover that swings open, and is located right around where your right knee would be as the driver. Just crouch down and look and you should see it right there. No need to remove any panels or anything.

OK either I am officially blind or the local merc importer did a cover-up so the port cannot be seen. See photos.
