Hi All.
Please can anybody help me with an electrical problem in my 1995 SL.
The problem is as follows. When I close the doors all the interior lights - i.e. dome, door bottoms and footwells, - all remain on, and yes the dome light is in the correct switch position. Additionally the "lights on" buzzer sounds when the exterior lights are on and the engine is turned off but with the key still in the ignition switch. Again when the key is left in the ignition after turning off the engine the interior lights work as they should !!!
I have had to remove the bulbs from the interior lights to stop the battery discharging but as the car is only used infrequently the battery has gone dead over a 10 day period so I suspect that there is still a drain taking place.
I have replaced both door switches to no avail. I have also substituted a known good "convenience function relay" in the relay box behind the fuses but again to no avail. Having searched for posts detailing similiar problems on this forum (though these seemed to deal mostly with W123s) and having studied as best I can wiring diagrams for the 129 I am led to think that the problem may be linked to the "seatbelt warning module/relay" but I am unable to locate it in the car.
Can anybody tell me if I am on the right track and more importantly where is this module located ?
Apologies for being so longwinded but this thing is driving me insane.
