Thumbs up W126 PS pump rebuild goes bad!

I finally got around to resealing the PS pump on my SD and now I have no PS. Goes from leaking to none... not what I wanted.

Anyway, I've taken it apart three times now to no avail. I have the locater pins all the way into the pump body per the manual, and still no dice.

Do I need to bleed the system more? Is there a fitting I can loosen somewhere if I have air in the system?

I haven't done one yet (I plan to shortly), and from what I've read in several posts, the orientation of the pump vanes and associated components is extremely critical with the operation of the unit. Your seals are fine.

Just a hunch...

Thumbs up

I did have one vane fall out but I placed it back, it was a PITA for sure. I'm going to rebleed the system here in a few hours after I take a nap.

The other thing that came to mind was that pressure reg valve, yet I did not remove it...

Does the 126 have the bleed screw on the steering gearbox that the 114s have? Looks like a brake bleeder thingy. If so, I'd put a hose on it back to the res and run till no air comes out.

Thumbs up

Would that bleeder be on the top or bottom of the gearbox?

It probably had air in it that worked itself out.

The bleed screw, if there is one, would be on the upper side and above the bearing preload adjustment. It may still have the rubber cover but looks like a brake bleeder.
