my differential whines at certain speeds. bet its been through a lot but are there ways to help reduce the whining save replacing the differential.

also, it suffers from a clunking sound on shifting (engaging the clutch) and have checked that its not the drive shafts or the flex disks or the u joints.

does it simply point to a worn differential? tks.

Tires sometimes make whining noise too.
