Terrible noise W220 rear suspension need help please!!!!!

Hello all.
Well today my wife and I went for a drive and I hit a pot hole in the left rear wheel. It was not much of a pot hole but now there is a terrible clanking noise coming from the left rear. I lifted the car up and removed the tire and nothing seemed to be loose at all. I then removed all the back seats to see if I could find the problem, nothing. I tightened the 3 bolts for the airmatic shock and they were fine as well. I then lifted the car with the airmatic and everything worked fine but there is still a really bad noise. If you push down on the rear of the car at stand still it makes a grinding/groaning noise. I would swear that the noise is coming from right where the shock is. I need help I am completely out of ideas. The car is a 2000 S500 Sport with about 47,000 miles. Any help would be graetly appreciated.
Johan

Possibly broken spring or shock. Any fluid leaking from the shock?

Well the shop just called and said the shock is in fact the problem. He said he would try to fix it but I am not holding my breath. The cost to replace, $1500!!! Not very happy
